EuroNanoForum 2015 Video Contest Winner: Project Neymar from University of Twente
The first winner of EuroNanoForum Video Contest was announced on 11.6.2015 at the Culture palace “Ziemeļblāzma”. The winning video, chosen by public vote, is “Project Neymar” by the BIOS lab-on-a-chip group at University of Twente in Netherlands.
Project Neymar is a research project funded by Noreyk b.v. Enschede (the Netherlands), which involves a collaboration between the Complex Tissue Regeneration Department of the MERLN institute (Maastricht University, NL) and the BIOS Lab-on-a-Chip group at the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology (University of Twente, NL).
The aim of the project is to fabricate engineered instructive micro-objects for bone tissue engineering approaches. Within the project research team, Ir. Martijn Tibbe is responsible for the development of fabrication technologies and characterization of the physical and chemical properties of the micro-objects. Dr. Ir. Anne Leferink is in charge of the in vitro characterization of the micro-objects in combination with bone marrow derived stromal cells, as a bottom-up tissue engineering approach.
In collaboration with Noreyk b.v., in vivo studies on bone regeneration with the micro-object system are currently being carried out. The project team is supervised by Dr. Lorenzo Moroni and Dr. Roman Truckenmüller (Maastricht University) and supported by Prof. Albert van den Berg (University of Twente).
