Andris Sternbergs, Full member of Latvian Academy of Science, graduated University of Latvia, Faculty of Physics and Mathematics in 1970. He obtained his PhD in 1978 and in 1999 Dr. Hab.phys. on ”The effects of structure ordering and radiation defects on phase transition dynamics in ferroelectric relaxors. Since 1999 – Director of the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia.
His research interests cover nanoscience and nanotechnologies, particularly, processing of ferroelectric materials (PLD, sol-gel, magnetron sputtering), structure ordering and phase transitions, application of thin films and heterostructures, radiation effects in ferroelectrics, plasma physics. His publication list includes over 230 papers.
