Innovation Manager, CEFIC
Dr. Jacques KOMORNICKI studied physics and chemistry at ESPCI ParisTech College in Paris where he got a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering. He then got a PhD (Docteur –Ingénieur) in Chemistry from Paris VI Pierre et Marie Curie University. He joined Elf Aquitaine in 1981 at the Research Center of Lacq as a research scientist in the field of interfacial physico-chemistry research and later composite materials.
In 1992 he was the project leader to start a new R&D Center in Kyoto, Japan for Elf Atochem (a predecessor company of Arkema). Since 1993, the new Kyoto Technical Center has been operating to serve the Japanese and Asian customers mainly in the fields of advanced materials.
In 1998 he became Manager of the polymer research department in the Research Center of Arkema in Lyon before moving in 2002 to the King of Prussia Research Center (PA USA) as R&D Director Fluoro-polymers. In 2208 he moved back to Lyon as the global R&D director Fluoro-chemicals and later global R&D Director Oxygenated Products.
Since September 2012 he has been seconded by Arkema to the European Chemical Industry Coucil (CEFIC) as an Innovation manager, in charge of the SusChem European Technology Platform and specific dedication to Materials Technologies and activities related to Smart-Cities.
He has been instrumental in pulling together experts from the chemical industry and different RTO and universities to define the SusChem Innovation and Research Agenda
On materials he worked with specific working groups by sectors and was in charge for CEFIC of the MATCH project and previously the MatVal project, both Coordination and Support Actions featuring the European Materials Common House; he has co-organized workshops on Materials innovation with different industry sectors and has organized the MatVal final conference.
He is also participating for CEFIC in RESIDE a European Project on demand side policies for the renovation of buildings in 3 European regions as well as GreenPreg, a FP7 project on a new concept of recyclable composites materials.
He has been organizing the SusChem Stakeholders Events and the Brokerage events related to FP7 and Horizon 2020 calls in the past 36 months.
