Senior Researcher, Institute of Solid State Physics University of Latvia
Krisjanis Smits is The Senior Researcher at Institute of Solid State Physics University of Latvia (ISSP UL).
He obtained his BSc, MSc and Ph.D. (2010) from University of Latvia. During studies he was a part time employer in ISSP UL since 2000. In ISSP UL he was involved in research on zirconia nanostructures and their optical properties, research results in scientific papers and led to a patent on the application of zirconia for oxygen sensing.
He has been involved in a number of research projects and at present he is a member of COST action CM1403.
His scientific interests cover a wide range of topics in the field of optical properties of oxide materials, however the main research direction is related to nanocrystals.
