Secretary General, European Technology Platform on Industrial Safety (ETPIS)
Olivier Salvi, graduated in 1994 as an engineer in Environment and Industrial Risks (Ecole des Mines d’Alès, France). He has been working at INERIS, the French National Institute in charge of industrial risk and environment protection from 1995 to 2013 as Programme Manager in the field of Risk Assessment and Management, then as Scientific Manager and finally as Business Development Manager. In 2013, he became the President of INERIS DÉVELOPPEMENT SAS, the subsidiary company in charge of international business development.
In 2006, he has been one of the founder of the European Virtual Institute for Integrated Risk Management EEIG (EU-VRi, www.eu-vri.eu) and is acting as General Manager. For EU-VRi, he has supervised the coordination of several European collaborative projects, in the field of risk management applied to energy or nanotechnologies, such as: nanoSTAIR (for the transfer of research results into standards in the field of nanotechnologies, www.nanostair.eu-vri.eu), STABALID (to support the safe development of large Li-ion stationary batteries to accompany the increase the use of renewable energy sources, www.stabalid.eu-vri.eu). He was involved in the coordination of iNTeg-Risk (to develop a common framework to manage emerging risks related to new technologies, www.integrisk.eu-vri.eu ).
In relation with his professional activities, he was engaged in international research cooperation promoting risk management and industrial safety.
In September 2005, he became the President of the Society for Risk Analysis Europe (SRA Europe, www.sraeurope.org) and in December 2006, he was elected as Councillor of SRA (www.sra.org) and was nominated as Chair of the Committee of the Regions aiming at promoting interaction between the various parts of the World represented in SRA. He contributed to the creation of SRA Latin America (http://www.srala.org/) in 2008 and of SRA China (http://www.sra.org/china-sra) in 2009.
Since 2005 he has been the Secretary General of ETPIS (the European Technology Platform on Industrial Safety, www.industrialsafety-tp.org). ETPIS has become the Cross-ETP initiative on Industrial Safety to emphasize the synergies to be developed with other sectoral platforms and initiatives, to improve safety performance and risk management. In this context he is leading a strategic initiative named SafeFuture – Safe innovation for a competitive and sustainable Future.
