Scientific employee, BAM Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing
Steffi Rades studied chemistry at the University of Hamburg, Germany, and worked at the Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany, where she earned a Doctor’s degree in 2012. She is a scientific employee at the BAM Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, division surface analysis and interfacial chemistry. Her background comprises wet-chemical synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials as well as solid state chemistry. She is experienced in characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction, X-ray and electron spectroscopies as well as electron microscopy.
Her current research is embedded in the European Project NanoValid – Development of reference methods for hazard identification, risk assessment and LCA of engineered nanomaterials (see www.nanovalid.eu). She contributes to the fabrication and characterization of certified reference nanomaterials as well as to establishing of reference methods for physical-chemical characterization and measurement of nanoscaled materials, which includes the organization of inter-laboratory comparisons at European/international level.
